The Velotech Gold award demonstrates that you can completely strip and rebuild a bike and are a highly competent mechanic across known and unknown bike types.

You will be qualified to inspect, adjust and fit most parts of a bike and carry out major repairs, and you will be qualified to sign off cycles as safe.

Candidates need an in-depth knowledge of the anatomy of a bicycle and must be able to work alone in a timely manner.

Outcomes

• Full bike rebuild
• Online research and self-led task
• Spoke replacement and wheel truing
• Any Gold course incorporates only a few fixed elements and will be tailored towards the participants’ interests

Take your own (clean!) bike along – make sure you are happy for it to be completely stripped and rebuilt
